Turkey decreases steel exports to China, Iran

From January through October 2019, exports of Turkish steel to China and Iran decreased, Trend reports on Nov. 21 referring to the Turkish Trade Ministry.

In the reporting period, the export of Turkish steel to China decreased by 37.9 percent compared to the same period in 2018, amounting to $8.8 million.

The ministry noted that in October 2019, steel exports from Turkey to China decreased by 4.6 percent compared to the same month of 2018, amounting to $1 million.

“In the ten months of 2019, the export of Turkish steel to Iran decreased by 19.9 percent compared to the same period in 2018, reaching $58.1 million,” the ministry said.

In October 2019, steel exports from Turkey to Iran increased by 52.8 percent compared to the same month of 2018, amounting to $5.1 million.

From January through October 2019, the export of Turkish steel decreased by 5.3 percent compared to the same period in 2018, amounting to $11.7 billion.

In October 2019, Turkish steel exports fell by 21.2 percent compared to October 2018, amounting to $1.1 billion, which makes 7.2 percent of Turkey’s total exports.

“Over the past 12 months from October 2018 through October 2019, the exports of this product increased by 1.4 percent compared to the same period in 2017-2018 and amounted to $14.8 billion,” the ministry said.

Turkey's export grew by 1.6 percent and reached $137 billion from January through October 2019 compared to the same period of 2018.

Meanwhile, the country's export decreased by 0.3 percent and reached $15.2 billion in October 2019 compared to October 2018.
