BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 13. The recent US sanctions on Iran are largely symbolic, Trend reports.
Murtaza Behruzifar, a member of the scientific team at the International Institute for Energy Research under Iran’s Ministry of Oil, discussed the sanctions in an interview with local media.
He explained that these recent sanctions are mainly a response to Iran's missile strike on Israel, highlighting the US's commitment to supporting Israel.
Behruzifar pointed out that the US has already imposed extensive sanctions on Iran, leaving limited room for further restrictions. He noted that Iran continues to sell oil to smaller, sanctioned Chinese companies, a trend he expects will persist.
It should be noted that on September 11, the US added 16 legal entities and 23 tankers involved in the trade and transport of Iranian oil to its sanctions list.
