Four family members killed in Kuwaiti apartment blaze
A deadly blaze ripped through an apartment in Kuwait's Al-Jahra governorate on Sunday, killing four people from an Arab family, the official KUNA news agency reported.
Firemen rushed to the apartment in the Al-Waha district and extinguished the fire immediately after being alerted, said Khalil Al-Amir, head of public relations at the country's Fire Department, Xinhua reported.
He said the firefighters rescued nine people from the building, but the four members from an Arab family, including the father and mother, died from suffocation.
The official did not disclose the cause for the mishap.
Al-Jahra is an agriculturally based governorate located northwest of the capital of Kuwait City. A highway links the governorate to the Iraqi border.
