A roadside bomb exploded Thursday afternoon next to an Israeli diplomatic convoy traveling in Jordan, but caused no injuries, Israeli media reported, dpa reported.

According to initial accounts, the Israeli ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom, Danny Nevo, was not in any of the vehicles when the bomb went off, about 20 kilometers from the Allenby Bridge, which separates the West Bank from Jordan.

The convoy was apparently traveling from Amman to Israel. The diplomats were escorted to a nearby Jordanian military base and then taken to the border.

Jordanian security forces have opened an investigation into the blast.
