Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Syrian-Turkish strategic cooperation is unique example of cooperation in the region, calling for building on the outcome of the bilateral scientific cooperation, SANA reported.

The remarks came during Erdogan's meeting with Syrian Minister of Higher Education Dr. Giath Barakat on Wednesday.

The two sides reviewed the fruitful outcome of the Syrian-Turkish scientific and research meetings in the framework of the joint scientific cooperation agreements.

Erdogan underlined the importance of teaching the Arabic language in Turkey on a wider scale, pointing out that Syria and Turkey have a common culture and history.

For his part, Dr. Barakat thanked the brotherly people of Turkey for their support and cooperation in the domains of scientific research and higher education.

Earlier, Minister Barakat reviewed with Turkish Minister of State in Charge of Science and Technology Mehmet Aydin Syrian-Turkish scientific and research activities.

The two sides called for consolidating scientific cooperation between the Syrian and Turkish universities and research centers.

They agreed on continuing coordination to implement joint agreements in a way that would boost up scientific and research cooperation and integration.

The two ministers agreed on jointly announcing the names of those who will carry out scientific projects of mutual concern next September.
