UAE FM: Gulf states want their voice heard

Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said Sunday that six states of the Gulf Cooperation Council want their voice heard in the world, Xinhua reported.

Sheikh Abdullah was speaking to a meeting of foreign ministers of the Gulf states in Abu Dhabi on the eve of the annual summit of the GCC leaders.

The ministers were due to submit their recommendations to the leaders after reviewing the political, economic, security and social issues on the summit's agenda.

"The meeting and the political debates should reflect our common goal which is to have our voice clearly heard in the international forums," Sheikh Abdullah told the meeting.

Founded in 1981, the GCC groups Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE.

The six states together hold around 45 percent of the global oil reserves and contribute 16 million barrels crude oil per day.
