Jordan's King Abdullah II travels to Brussels on Wednesday for talks with European leaders on the prospects of ending the deadlock in direct talks between the Palestinians and Israel, a royal court statement said, dpa reported.

Jordan's King Abdullah II travels to Brussels on Wednesday for talks with European leaders on the prospects of ending the deadlock in direct talks between the Palestinians and Israel, a royal court statement said, dpa reported.

"The monarch is due to discuss with European leaders latest Middle East developments and challenges facing the accomplishment of peace on the basis of the two-state solution," Tuesday's statement said.

Abdullah's activities in Brussels will include meetings with King Albert II of Belgium, Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and the European foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, it added.
