The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Friday that the Bolivian Republic officially recognized the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 territories, Xinhua reported.
The ministry said in an official statement that the Bolivian recognition of a Palestinian state was made on Friday afternoon by President of Bolivia Evo Morales during a conference of presidents of Latin American countries in Brazil.
The Bolivian president said "Bolivia recognizes Palestine as a state on the borders of 1967, like Brazil and Argentina," according to the Palestinian statement.
"Our efforts in Latin America are still going on through our ambassadors to gain the largest support of recognizing the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders," said the statement.
Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed the Bolivian recognition, who said in a statement published by the Palestinian state-run Wafa news agency that the Bolivian position "is very supportive."
Two weeks ago, Brazil and Argentina recognized the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, which was condemned by Israel and the United States, saying "it is a violation of the signed peace treaties."
