Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser al-Mohammed al-Ahmad al-Sabah arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday to hold talks with Iraqi leaders, an official television reported.
"Kuwaiti Prime Minister arrived in Baghdad to meet Iraqi leaders," the state-run television of Iraqia said, Xinhua reported.
Al-Sabah is expected to meet with his Iraqi counterpart Nuri al- Maliki to congratulate him on forming the new cabinet, and discuss the bilateral relations, an official from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Al-Sabah, who heads a high-ranking Kuwaiti delegation, will also meet with top Iraqi officials, including President Jalal Talabani, the official said.
The visit of the Kuwaiti prime minister came two days after a shootout incident between Kuwaiti coast guards and Iraqi fishermen that resulted in the killing of a Kuwaiti coast guard member.
