Anti-government protesters outraged Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak refusal to step down, euronews reported.

Protesters gathered in Cairo's central Tahrir Square shouted "Get out Mubarak".

In a televised speech, Mubarak acknowledged that his government had made mistakes and expressed sorrow for the victims of the 17-day protests.

And while he announced he was transferring some powers to Vice President Omar Suleiman and reiterated he would not stand in September elections, he fell short of resigning immediately and refused to lift the state of emergency, dpa reported.
