Over 1 million people in Tahrir Square for Friday prayers

More than 1 million people attended traditional Friday prayers in central Cairo's Tahrir Square to call on Egypt's military rulers to speed up reforms and their crackdown on corruption, dpa reported.

The crowd also prayed for those who died during the recent nationwide pro-democracy protests that toppled president Hosny Mubarak. The unrest left at least 365 people dead, according to authorities.

"The revolution is not over. The building of Egypt is still yet to come," the formerly exiled Sheikh Youssef al-Qaradawi told people in Tahrir Square - which had become a focal point for the unrest - one day after he arrived from Qatar.

"Continue the revolution and remain united, don't let anyone come in your way," said al-Qaradawi, who delivered his sermon exactly one week after Mubarak's resignation.
