The Libyan opposition on Friday accused authorities of arming African migrants in the north of the country to shoot at anti-government protesters, a move it alleged has left up to 30 people dead, dpa reported.

The opposition website Libya Al-Youm said that helicopters landed briefly to provide the migrants with weapons in the cities of Bayda and Shahhat, both located on the north coast.

The website also said that three of the armed migrants were killed in the clashes.

Libyan activists said that funerals and marches for those killed in the public unrest the day before had begun on Friday.
