Libyan leader Moamer Gaddafi, who has ruled for 41 years, attended a pro-government rally in the capital Tripoli on Friday, state television reported.
Meanwhile, residents of the large northern coastal city of Benghazi said police had been replaced with military troops a day after anti-government protesters were killed in violent clashes, DPA reported.
Libyan activists said funerals and marches for those killed in the unrest had started on Friday.
