Libya's ambassadors to France and to the UN organisation UNESCO in Paris declared their resignations Friday and announced joining the movement to topple Moamer Gaddafi, DPA reported.

According to the television network BFM, ambassadors Salah Zaren and Abdul Salam el Galali, in a public declaration, said they wanted to joint the anti-Gaddafi resistance in protest against the violence which was being directed at their countrymen at home.

The move came after anti-Gaddafi protesters had succeeded in storming and occupying the Libyan embassy building late Thursday.

Calling themselves the "children of the revolution," the protesters raised a flag of Libya dating back to before Gaddafi came to power, in 1969. Police surrounded the building.

With the resignation of the two ambassadors, the protesters were reportedly preparing to quit the embassy building. They requested that Libyan diplomats should first come to the embassy in order to confirm that the embassy occupiers had not done any damage.
