Dozens of Syrians living in Jordan on Tuesday demonstrated in front of the Syrian embassy in Amman to protest Moscow's support of the regime of embattled President Bashar al-Assad, dpa reported

They chanted slogans and raised placards urging Russia to adopt a new attitude that supports an uprising by the Syrian people and their aspirations for reforms ensuring freedom and the rule of law in their country.

"The Syrians will not forgive Russia," read one of the slogans, referring to Moscow's opposition to a proposal led by the Western powers for a UN Security Council discussion about the Syrian authorities' crackdown on protesters.

Russia reportedly threatened to use its veto power to kill any resolution critical of Damascus.

The protesters handed the Russian embassy a petition calling on the Russian government to change its stance.
