At least two Palestinians died in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday after the Israeli army fired into the salient, according to statements from both sides, DPA reported.
Palestinian medical officials said the dead were hit by an Israeli tank shell near the al-Bureij refugee camp.
However, an Israeli army statement said Israeli aircraft fired into the Strip after Israeli officials saw a "squad of terrorists" preparing to launch rockets into Israel.
The Palestinian officials confirmed two deaths and said a third person was severely injured in the incident. Palestinian sources said the dead belonged to a militant group with ties to al-Qaeda.
The army said at least three missiles have been fired into Israel since the start of the week.
