Despite the recent Gaza-bound flotilla's failure to set sail en masse from several Mediterranean ports, one of the boats managed to set sail from Corsica Saturday evening, and is currently headed to the coastal strip, with its crew saying they represent the whole flotilla.
The Dignite-Al Karama, carrying a crew of pro-Palestinian activists, is set to arrive in Gaza between Monday and Tuesday in a symbolic act of protest against what the activists called " Israel's illegal blockade" on the Gaza Strip, Xinhua reported.
Aboard the vessel are six French activists, one Canadian, one Tunisian and a Swedish citizen, the Ha'aretz daily reported on Sunday. All of the other flotilla boats are still detained in Greek ports, two weeks after they had scheduled to sail.
Three members on the small vessel participated in last year's ill-fated Gaza flotilla, including one Greek national, who claimed he was brutalized by Israeli policemen, Ha'aretz reported.
In last year's six-ship flotilla, Israeli commandos boarded the ships after the captains refused to turn away from Gaza. In the ensuing melee, nine passengers were killed and several soldiers were injured.
