Libyan rebels expect to take complete control over the capital within 15 hours, one of the opposition fighters in Tripoli told the German Press Agency dpa Monday.

He over telephone that he was stationed only half a kilometre away from leader Moamer Gaddafi's Bab al-Aziziya compound, where the rebels have been fighting government troops for hours.

Hundreds of rebels have been joining the fighters in Tripoli from the Western Mountains area with supplies, he told dpa.

"I came from Yefren city last night, and just now, over 300 joined us," he said.

On Sunday, hundreds of rebels arrived in Tripoli from the coastal city of Misurata by sea.
