Iraq has a great responsibility in fighting against terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), but the country can hardly be able to defeat terrorism by itself, Anadolu agency reported quoting Iraqi Vice President Tariq Al-Hashimi as saying.

"The concentration of the Iraqi security forces on the border with Turkey to fight against PKK is not an effective way of counter-terrorism," Al Hashimi said.

According to Al-Hashimi, Turkey, Iraq and Iran should cooperate in combating terrorism.

"There is no specific agreement on counter-terrorism between the countries until now," he added.

Vice-President also said that he will visit Turkey on October, 23 to discuss ways of cooperation in PKK combating.

Some days ago Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki stated that Iraq should prevent foreign interference and use its internal security forces with a view to effectively fight against the terrorist PKK.

PPK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, launched an armed campaign for an ethnic homeland in the mainly Kurdish southeastern Turkey in 1984, sparking decades of strife that has claimed more than 30,000 lives.
