An earthquake measured 4.2 on the Richter scale hit Aswan, in Upper Egypt, Chairman of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) Hatim Odah said on Monday, Xinhua reported.
According to official news agency MENA, NRIAG registered the tremor at 19:01 p.m. local time (1701 GMT) in Nasser Lake, Hatim said.
No casualties or damage were reported, and Aswan inhabitants didn't feel the quake, Hatim added that the High Dam wasn't affected.
