Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry issued a message saying that the Kingdom has refuted all accusations from Russia that Riyadh supports terrorism in Syria.

The Saudi Foreign Minister has expressed his concern and disapproval of the harsh and irresponsible statements made by the Russian Foreign Ministry's official.

'Saudi Arabia seeks to resolve the crisis in Syria in accordance with international legal standards through the UN Security Council. The Kingdom's efforts, unfortunately, have failed due to the veto which allowed the Syrian regime to commit crimes against its defenceless people', the message says.

Anti-government protests which began in mid-March have persisted in Syria for almost a year. Daily reports are being received about the death of people, both civilians and the security forces.

According to UN statistics, the total number of victims in the country exceeds 7500. The Syrian authorities accuse armed militants of the clashes saying they receive assistance from neighbouring countries.
