Polling places opened Saturday in 10 of Egypt's provinces in the first round of a referendum on a draft constitution that has provoked demonstrations by pro- and anti-government protesters, dpa reported.
President Mohammed Morsi cast his ballot at a school in the eastern Cairo district of Heliopolis, the state news agency reported.
He was greeted by voters who queued up in large numbers at the school amid tight security, the report said.
