UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, following consultations with the permanent members of the UN Security Council (Russia, the U.S., Britain, France, China) is sure that the conference on the Syrian settlement will take place "very soon", possibly in early June, RIA Novosti reported.
"Since the parties have asked me to convene the conference under the auspices of the UN, I am now actively spending consultation with all interested sides. I already spoke with representatives of Russia, the U.S., Britain, France, China and others. We are now considering the possibility of holding a conference in early June, but it remains the subject of further consultation. However, I am sure we will hold the conference very soon," Secretary General of the UN said.
