At least eight people were killed by Israeli shooting when masses of Palestinians forced their way across the Israeli-controlled border between Syria and the Golan Heights, residents and activists said.

Israeli troops fired live rounds and tear gas at the protesters who suddenly crossed into the Israeli-occupied territory from Syria, DPA reported.

At least 70 people were injured in the attack. Most of them were taken to the nearby Quneitra hospital.
