Israel Monday intercepted a boat on the Dead Sea attempting to smuggle assault rifles, possibly from Jordan to the West Bank, a military spokeswoman said, dpa reported.
The Dead Sea forms the border between Jordan and the West Bank in the north, and between Jordan and Israel in the south.
A number of AK-47 assault rifles, magazines and some other weapons were found on board, the Israeli military said.
Two Palestinians on board were arrested.
Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty in 1994. The border between the two countries has been mostly peaceful.
