( dpa ) - Three suspected robbers were killed Thursday in a shootout with policemen in the Philippine capital, a police official said.
Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales said the shootout erupted after the suspects opened fire at policemen who accosted them along a highway near a pier in Manila.
Rosales said the suspects were about to waylay an armoured van when the policemen intercepted them.
