( dpa ) - A singer is the latest victim killed in a series of attacks on musicians by drug gangs in Mexico, local media reported Saturday.

Alfaro Pulido was shot in the head in the Mexican border city of Tijuana and was among six people, including two of his colleagues, killed in recent days in apparent attacks by drug traffickers. The bodies bore signs of torture, police said.

In recent months several musicians that perform songs detailing the evils of drug cartels and their activities have been killed. Most recently, the death of famed singer and bandleader Sergio Gomez led to outrage after it became public that he had been tortured to death.
