( dpa ) - A school was the latest building hit by the wave of arson attacks in Denmark overnight, police said Sunday.

Portions of the school in Copenhagen's Bronshoj neighbourhood were damaged, but no one was injured.

Police have attributed the riots over the past week mainly to disaffected youth from immigrant backgrounds.

The fire department said the extent of the blazes has diminished, with no incidents reported outside the capital. The government has called for harsh measures against the rioters, but also steps to integrate immigrant children.

A government spokesman has cited a perception of police harassment by the youths as among the riots' causes. The riots broke out before the renewed dispute over the controversial Mohammed cartoons published in the Jyllands-Posten newspaper, which are also thought to have added to the unrest.
