Thirteen years after first complaints of sexual abuse of children were made against a Polish priest, a public prosecutor is to investigate the allegations, it was stated Monday. ( dpa )
A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office in the northern city of Szczecin confirmed this after Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper reported "years of cover-up" by a church establishment for problem children.
The newspaper said four alleged victims complained in 1995 to staff who informed the bishop responsible for the establishment - but he dismissed the claims as lacking credibility.
The priest at the centre of the allegations had gone on the head several Catholic schools before being suspended. He already faced an episcopal hearing, the report said.
