(dpa) - The Tibetan government-in-exile in India said on Saturday that at least 30 Tibetans had been killed in violent clashes with Chinese authorities, along with many persons injured.

The figure is triple the death toll of at least 10 dead reported by China's official news agency Xinhua regarding the violence in Tibet. The US-based Radio Free Asia had cited local residents as saying as many as 80 had died.

"According to our information ... 30 are confirmed dead in Tibet with injuries to many people," Thubten Samphel, Information Secretary and Spokesperson for the governmet in exile, told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
