At least 10 Kurdish soldiers killed in Iraq

(dpa) - At least 10 Kurdish soldiers have been killed in a bomb attack in Iraq, the US Army reported Tuesday.

A bomb was set off next to an Iraqi Army troop transporter in the north-west province of Nineveh on Monday, the statement said.

Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported 12 deaths and two injuries in the incident.

The soldiers belonged to an army unit that is exclusively made up of former Kurdish party militias.

A suicide attacker blew himself up Monday at the funeral in Tal Afar of a soldier who had been killed two days previously.

The attacker killed himself and three others.

Some 30 funeral attendees were injured in the attack.

The US Army also reported that insurgents killed one soldier in Baghdad and another in the province of Salahaddin on Monday.

One US soldier was killed in a bomb attack in Baghdad on Saturday, the statement said.
