A small bomb exploded late Sunday in a
Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon, killing one member of a Sunni
fundamentalist group, Palestinian sources said.
According the sources, the man was preparing a bomb when it exploded.
The same sources said that at least three people were wounded in the blast in
an area controlled by Sunni fundamentalist group Jund al-Sham inside Ain
el-Hilweh camp, located on the outskirts of the southern port city of Sidon.
Jund al-Sham has been involved in several clashes in recent weeks with Lebanese
Army troops who usually control all entrances leading to the 12 Palestinian
camps scattered across Lebanon.
Security inside the camps is in the hands of Palestinian groups.
Jund al-Sham has close links with Fatah al-Islam, which was involved in fierce
clashes with the Lebanese Army in 2007 in northern Lebanon.
Both groups are believed to have links with the terrorist
network al-Qaeda, led by Osama bin Laden, dpa reported.
