At least eight people died after a bus carrying tourists crashed at Oropesa del Mar, north of Valencia, on Sunday.

Another 40 passengers were injured, media reports said, of whom six were stated to be in serious condition. The passengers were tourists from Morocco, who were travelling to Barcelona. Those killed included the Spanish driver.

Initial investigations revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst. The bus was travelling from Valencia via Tarragona to Barcelona, the dpa reported.
