Senator Joseph Biden was Wednesday nominated by popular acclaim at the Democratic convention here to serve as Barack Obama's vice presidential running mate.
"The ayes have it," the convention's chair, House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, said to huge cheers after no delegates spoke out against the veteran Delaware senator's nomination.
Biden was due shortly to deliver his acceptance address, AFP reported.
