Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk claims that the parliament is still authorized despite the collapse of the democratic coalition.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the Speaker claimed this at the morning session of parliament Tuesday.

According to Arseniy Yatseniuk, today the new page of the Ukrainian history was opened. "I would not call it a political apocalypses. Yes, it is yet another challenge to democracy, but I hope we will overcome this challenge together", the Speaker emphasized.

According to the Speaker, he regrets that the political forces failed to realize their opportunities and use chances. "This was not the case when they were not allowed. They merely could not and failed", he said.

Arseniy Yatseniuk called on everybody not to forget that Ukraine faces other challenges, including the absence of contracts on gas supplies for the next year, the state budget, etc.. "The Ukrainian parliament is still authorized and has to fulfill its constitutional function - the legislative one", he stressed.

According to him, some political forces should not pretend as if everything is all right. "The political stalemate in which we have been for a long time, may turn into a political mate", Arseniy Yatseniuk pointed out.
