Afganistan, Kabul, September 21 / Trend Corr. A. Hakimi/ About 300 people, most of them government officials, have been struck down with food poisoning while breaking their fast in the north-eastern province of Nuristan.
The food, cooked in the provinceїs police headquarters and handed out to the families of government officials during the holy month of Ramadan, was eaten during Iftar on Saturday evening.
Three men have been arrested, the deputy provincial governor, Abdul Halim said, and armed students were ordered to secure the province in case of an attack.
Most of those struck down with food poisoning are still unconscious, the former governor of the province, Tamim Nuristani, said.
