Russian Air Force to use 12 aircrafts at Autumn 2008 exercise

The Russian air force will use 12 aircrafts and 300 staff including response forces and aviation personnel at the oncoming Autumn 2008 exercise, BelTA learnt from First Deputy Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus Major-General Piotr Tikhonovsky.

"Partaking in the Autumn 2008 operational exercise of the Armed Forces of Belarus will be assault, fighting, army aircraft of the Russian Air Force," Piotr Tikhonovsky said.

In his words, the operational exercise is conducted together with the second stage of the Russian strategic exercise Stability 2008. Therefore it is not by chance that the Russian Air Force takes part in the Belarusian operational exercise.

"It is important to stress that Russia is a strategic ally of Belarus that develops mutually beneficial military and technical cooperation with the country," added Deputy Head of the General Staff.
