Tainted-milk deaths increase in China

Other News Materials 2 December 2008 05:33 (UTC +04:00)

Six Chinese infants may have died from consuming melamine-tainted milk powder, twice the number that was previously reported, state-run media said Monday.

The Ministry of Health had investigated 11 infant death cases since September and ruled out a connection to the tainted milk powder in all but six, the Xinhua news agency reported. The government previously confirmed three infant deaths linked to tainted milk, but it was unclear whether they were included in the new total, CNN reported.
