Five Egyptian students joined the millions of young people energized by the election of US president-elect Barack Obama, sending him a message telling him: "You are our only hope because you made us believe that change is possible."
The five female sixth-grade students went to US Ambassador Margaret Scobey in Cairo to present her with their congratulatory message to Obama, dpa rported.
"You made us believe that we can stop wars, make peace and make our society more peaceful. You made us believe that we can discover new things and stop the global warming," read the message.
"What is more important is that you encouraged us to work hard so that we can help develop our country, Egypt," it added.
Scobey took the students on a tour of the embassy, showing them US pieces of art on display and discussing with them the history of the United States.
