The captain of a merchant ship carrying tanks and other heavy weapons says his ship is still in Somali waters the day after Somali pirates freed it, AP reported.

Viktor Nikolsky says the MV Faina will start its journey to the Kenyan port of Mombasa Saturday. He estimates it will take three to four days to reach Mombasa. Nikolsky spoke to The Associated Press via a satellite phone Friday.

Nikolsky says all crew members have received medical attention and are "healthy."

The pirates released the ship after receiving a $3.2 million ransom.

The MV Faina was seized in September in one of the most brazen acts in a surge of attacks on ships off the Somali coast. Somalia has been without a central government for 18 years.
