Juventus' Brazilian Amauri Sunday levelled the opener from Sampdoria's Giampaolo Pazzini for a 1-1 draw that pushed Juve to within six points of leaders Inter Milan, who play a late city derby with AC Milan, dpa reported.

Juve have only themselves to blame for not moving closer to Inter, on 53 points from 23 games, and risk either losing ground on the leaders or be leapfrogged by Milan as the two powerhouses face off at the Giuseppe Meazza.

In sunny Turin, Pazzini put Samp ahead on 10 minutes off an assist from playmaker Antonio Cassano, who set up the former Fiorentina striker to beat the onrushing Gianluigi Buffon.

Good chances had gone begging earlier for Juve as Czech veteran Pavel Nedved had a drive saved after a spurt from the midfield and captain Alessandro Del Piero came close with an elegant flick with his heel.

A header from Camoranesi flew high on 30 minutes as Juve pressed to equalize and Amauri had a close-range effort blocked by Luca Castellazzi, who on 40 minutes had to thank the woodwork as Nedved fired against the post from few metres away and shook the bar with a header.

Juve fans felt shivers down their spines after the break when a cross from Cassano was deflected against the post, but were relieved on 62 minutes by Amauri's equalizer, a diving header off a great cross from substitute Sebastian Giovinco.

The hosts' looked like they were going ahead just two minutes later, but Del Piero's swerving free kick incredibly hit the bar and the post to the left of the diving Castellazzi.

Ten-man Genoa drew 3-3 against Fiorentina, who rallied from three goals down through a hat-trick from Adrian Mutu and retained the fourth available Champions League berth.

Genoa seemed to have leapfrogged Fiorentina in fourth place as they led 3-0 with a half hour to go despite the dismissal of Giuseppe Biava on 30 minutes.

The Romanian striker thought otherwise and helped the lacklustre Florence guests clinch one point thanks to a converted a spot kick, a fast off-the-bar free kick and a late drive from the distance.

Securing a berth in the next continental tournament became harder for Roma after a harsh 3-0 beating away to in-form Atalanta, whose captain Cristiano Doni scored a brace after Daniele Capelli's opener.

Palermo drew 0-0 at tail-enders Reggina, Cagliari kept up their good pace with a 2-0 win over Lecce, Siena and Udinese drew 1-1 and lowly Chievo also drew 1-1 with Catania. On Saturday, Lazio-Torino and Napoli-Bologna both ended on a 1-1 draw.
