Iran would host a conference in support of the Palestinians in the near future, the official IRNA news agency reported on Tuesday.
Iran's Parliament (Majlis) was to host an international conference in support of the Palestinians and Gaza on March 4-5, the report said.
"The conference would be held with the participation of Iran's senior officials as well as parliament speakers from a number of other countries and leaders of Palestinian groups," said IRNA, adding that, "Representatives from the pro-Palestinian international bodies are also to take part in the gathering."
During the past couple of days, Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani telephoned his counterparts from Nigeria, Sudan, Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait to officially invite them to the conference, the report added.
"Europe should adopt fair stance on Palestine," and play an active role in bringing peace and tranquility to the region, Larijani said at a meeting with Swedish Ambassador to Iran Magnus Vernstedt on Tuesday.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said last Wednesday that the war on Gaza had entered a new stage, which is " a viral psychological campaign designed to sap Palestinian morale and resistance, a goal Tel Aviv failed to achieve by means of blockade and war."
Earlier this month, Khalid Mashaal, Hamas political bureau chief, called for Iran's defense for the Palestinians.
Iran never hesitated to pronounce its all-out support for Hamas during the three-week unprecedented Israeli military offensive on Gaza, during which about 1,400 Palestinians were killed and 5,500 others wounded. E
