A gang raid on a group of youth playing football in Guatemala City left six players dead and another 14 injured, dpa reported.
The violence occurred Wednesday evening on the edge of the capital city of this Central American country. Members of a gang, Pandilla, attacked the players, shot them and killed six youth, including a 16- year-old pregnant girl.
Doctors were able to save the unborn child, officials said Thursday.
Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are among the most violent countries in Latin America. In the last year in Guatemala alone, 6,200 people were murdered.
Guatemala has a population of 13 million people, but its murder rate is higher than that of Mexico, with 110 million people and which recorded 5,600 murders in 2008.
Violence in Guatemala is connected to the drug trade and the youth gangs called Maras, who are known to terrorize entire neighbourhoods.
Several days ago, President Alvaro Colom emphasized that crime was the country's worst problem.
