Former NBA star Vlade Divac was elected on Tuesday as new president of the Serbian Olympic Committee (OKS) for the next four years.
The electoral assembly was attended by 82 of the total of 83 OKS delegates and 76 voted in favor of Divac.
Speaking after his election, Divac said he wants to help "create better conditions for our sportsmen."
Divac's predecessor Ivan Curkovic withdrew his candidacy for re-election after the assembly opted for an open ballot, Xinhua reported.
Divac, 41-year-old, is Serbia's basketball legend with domestic, European and world championship titles, and a 16-year career in the NBA among his achievements. He once was the center for Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets and Sacramento Kings.
After his retirement from basketball four years ago, Divac moved to his native Serbia and dedicated himself to humanitarian work in Serbia.
