The Spanish Agency of Tributary Administration reported on Friday the capture of a fishing boat with 5,000kg of cocaine aboard in the waters of the Canary Islands.
Five Venezuelan crew members were detained in the naval operation taking place Friday morning, the agency said in a statement.
The cocaine freight was estimated to have a value of 250 million euros in the street market of Europe, Xinhua reported.
Six ships had been seized with a haul of 19,000 kg of cocaine in the agency's anti-drug operations in the last four years, the statement said.
