The following are the latest developments of Influenza A/H1N1 outbreaks worldwide on Friday, according to the World Health Organization and government officials, Xinhua reported.
The World Health Organization (WHO), the World Organization for Animal Health and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations on Thursday announced to use "Influenza A/H1N11" instead of the term "swine flu" to avoid confusion over the danger posed by pigs.
Late Thursdday, Mexican health authorities raise the number of confirmed cases to 312, of which 12 were fatalities. Mexico's Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova is no longer releasing "suspected numbers," saying they are confusing people and may be inflated.
In the United States, a 23-month-old boy from Mexico died in Texas while another 131 people have been confirmed with the disease. Confirmed cases of Influenza A/H1N1 include 34 in Canada; 13 in Spain; eight in Britain; three each in Germany and New Zealand; two in Israel; one each in Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands.
