Bus-lorry crash leaves 1 dead, 11 injured in Moscow Region
One person was killed and eleven others were injured in a crash between a passenger bus and a lorry in the Moscow Region on Saturday morning, Xinhua reported.
The accident occurred on the Crimea Highway at around 08:30 a.m. Moscow time (0430 GMT), the Itar-Tass news agency reported.
One woman passenger died on the spot, and eleven others were injured. The injured were taken to hospital.
Three or four of the injured will probably be hospitalized, said Sergei Sergeyev, head of the road traffic safety inspection department of the Moscow Region.
Initial investigation showed that the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle which was heading from Moscow to Serpukhov, and that the bus rammed into a lorry standing still along the side of the road.
The driver was reported to have fallen asleep at the wheel.
