Blast in Uzbekistan's Khanabad city near Kyrgyz border: witnesses (UPDATE-2)

Witnesses reported an explosion in the Khanabad (Andijan region of Uzbekistan), located near the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.

There is not any official report about the incident, the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry told Trend in a telephone conversation.

A witness who lives in the border city of Osh (Southern Kyrgyzstan) told RIA Novosti over telephone that an explosion took place at the Khanabad customs post in the early morning on May 26. The witness said there are large forces of police, troops, tanks and other equipment in the incident region from the Uzbek side.

At the same time, Fergana.ru news agency reports that the explosion occurred the previous evening not at the customs post, but in the building of the city police department in the Khanabad. Moreover, the sources report about a possible shooting in the Kurgantepe district of the Andijan region. All the teahouse, entertainment establishments and public places in the Uzbek city of Khanabad were closed, the Fergana.Ru sources reported.
