An earthquake with a magnitude of 5. 5 struck eastern parts of Indonesia on Sunday, there is no report of damage or casualty, the meteorology agency said, Xinhua reported.
The quake jolted at 10:34 Jakarta time (0334 GMT) with the epicenter at 101 km northeast of Bitung of North Sulawesi and at a depth of 43 km, the agency said.
Indonesia, with a population of 230 million, sits on a vulnerable quake-hit zone so called the Pacific Ring of Fire, where two continental plates meet, causing frequent seismic and volcanic movements.
