2 Taliban commanders detained, 3 others killed in W Afghanistan

Security forces after clash with Taliban fighters in west Afghanistan Saturday arrested two militants' commanders and killed three others, police spokesman in western region Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said.

    "The clash took place in Dilaram district of Farah province today morning during which three Taliban fighters were killed and two others sustained injuries," Ahmadi told Xinhua.

    In clash with insurgents, he added, Mullah Amanullah and Mullah Naeeb, both commanders of Taliban in the area were detained, while efforts to chase down another Taliban commander Mullah Akhtar is continuing.

    Taliban fighters who have vowed to speed up activities this year in Afghanistan have not made comment so far on the subject.
